About Woodwynd Dalmatians
Although I have been a Dalmatian owner/exhibitor since 1988, Woodwynd Dalmatians really started in 1991 with the purchase of a black and white spotted female puppy from Pal Dal Dalmatians in Lake Charles, Louisiana. "Pepper" as she was known, soon became Champion Woodwynd's Irish Pepper of Pal, CGC TDI and is the foundation bitch behind Woodwynd Dalmatians. In just three litters, Pepper made a powerful contribution to the breed and produced nine champions; two with multiple performance titles .
BUT FAR MORE IMPORTANT THAN ANY SHOW WINS ARE TEMPERAMENT AND HEALTH.
Although breeding show quality Dalmatians is a priority, breeding sound, stable temperaments and healthy dog is the TOP priority. Many of our dogs will never see the inside of a show ring, but will become beloved family members. Woodwynd Dalmatians thrive in a family environment. They are BAER tested to guarantee hearing and are certified free of hip displaysia either by the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals (OFA) or by PennHip and free of Iris Sphincter Displaysia via CERF prior to breeding. We're actively involved with the breeding of Normal Uric Acid Dalmatians to help eliminate the urate stone issue found in Dalmatians.

We compete in performance events as well as conformation. As a breeder, I believe that a dog should be able to do what it was originally bred to do... and to look darn good doing it! BUT it doesn't matter how smart or how pretty a Dal is; if he/she isn't a pleasure to live with, then I have failed as a breeder. We are not really a kennel. All of our dogs are house dogs and family members. As you will notice while perusing this site, many of our dogs are co-owned and live with other families. When we co-own a show dog with a local family, they often attend shows with us to root for their spotty kid and share in the joy and excitement of winning. We've developed some wonderful friendships over the years this way and Woodwynd Dalmatians has grown to include my dear friends Kathy Clark and Getty Almageur who are now breeding and showing wonderful Dalmatians under the Woodwynd name.
Through the generosity of some very wonderful friends, I've been able to dabble in other breeds as well and have co-bred litters in several other breeds; hence the Woodwynd Dalmatians & Friends. I owe a great deal of thanks to:
For their friendship, guidance and for allowing me the opportunity to join in their breeding programs, I am eternally in their debt.
