About Woodwynd Dalmatians Although I have been a Dalmatian owner/exhibitor since 1988, Woodwynd Dalmatians really started in 1991 with the purchase of a black and white spotted female puppy from Pal Dal Dalmatians in Lake Charles, Louisiana. "Pepper" as she is known, soon became Champion Woodwynd's Irish Pepper of Pal, CGC TDI and is the foundation bitch behind all Woodwynd Dalmatians. In just three litters, Pepper made a powerful contribution to the breed and produced nine champions; two with multiple performance titles . BUT FAR MORE IMPORTANT THAN ANY SHOW WINS ARE Although breeding show quality Dalmatians is a priority, breeding sound,
stable temperaments and healthy dog is the TOP priority. Many of our dogs will
never see the inside of a show ring, but will become beloved family members. Woodwynd Dalmatians thrive in a family
environment. They are
BAER tested to guarantee hearing and are certified free of
hip displaysia by the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals (OFA) and free of Iris
Sphincter Displaysia via CERF prior to breeding. |

We compete in performance events as well as conformation. As a breeder, I
believe that a dog should be able to do what it was originally bred to do... and
to look darn good doing it! BUT it doesn't matter how smart or how
pretty a Dal is; if he/she isn't a pleasure to live with, then I have failed as a
breeder. We are not really a kennel. All of our dogs are house dogs and family members. As you will notice while perusing this site, many of our dogs are co-owned and live with other families. When we co-own a show dog with a local family, they often attend shows with us to root for their spotty kid and share in the joy and excitement of winning. We've developed some wonderful friendships over the years this way. |
